AIMVT Exam Suggested Reading


The AIMVT examination questions will be reflective of the knowledge needed by the Veterinary Technician who is working at an advanced level in the field of Internal Medicine.  The technician can augment their hands on experience and knowledge by becoming familiar with the details that relate to the medicine and treatments of the patient he or she cares for.


The texts listed on the AIMVT website are simply suggested study material.  They are not meant to be read in their entirety.  The list is extensive to increase the chances that at least some are readily available to the interested technicians.

We suggest referring to the Exam Domains and Exam Content portion outlined on the web.
Think about these items as they relate to your daily work as a veterinary technician.
Consider general principles as well as those that may be unique to your specialty field.
One reasonable approach would be to think about a particular case, the diagnosis, diseases and conditions involved, the lab work and the information that the lab work and other diagnostic procedures provides.  Think about the medications used and why, what do they do, what are complications of use, how are they used.  Think about the procedures, why are they done?  Consider if the condition may have been prevented, and if so, how?

These are just a few ideas for preparing for the credentialing examination.  Good luck with your work and with your studies.
